Spyware removal
Spyware and adware are responsible for the majority of complaints by users about their computer's performance. It is recommended that scans for such malicious or intrusive programs be done periodically, in addition to keeping an anti-virus program running and up to date. We recommend:

Virus protection
In an effort to protect our users from viruses, we scan all email arriving at our servers for viruses. Users should however not depend upon our scanning for protection and should also run a good anti-virus program on their computers, keeping the definitions up to date with regular updates. Avast! Anti-virus is our recommended choice, with Avira Anti-virus being another free option which receives high ratings from its users.

Email settings and servers
Because viruses, worms and other mal-ware often use email as their mode of transport, Vogent.net by default blocks outgoing port 25, except to certain authorized mail servers. To send email, it is highly recommended that you send it through one of the vogent.net mail servers. You should configure your email client, (such as Thunderbird or Outlook Express) to use mail.vogent.net, mail.savonburg.net, mail.ispwow.net, mail.moranks.net etc.. as the SMTP server. If you are using an email account from Vogel Enterprises, you should also set the POP3 server (incoming mail) to one of the above.

If you are attempting to set up your email client to use Yahoo!'s SMTP server, you will need to set your email client to use port 587 instead of port 25. Click here for instructions to configure your email client to use Yahoo! mail servers.

Miscellaneous
Some Hewlett Packard computers with mutli-media/Internet keyboards have an issue with the drivers for the keyboard pinging an external host (207.26.131.137) approximately once a second. Hewlett Packard has released updated drivers to fix this problem.
